Hermitage took on Loughborough Panthers in their last Mixed outing still searching for that first win of the season.
With Lizzi making her debut for the side Paulina gave the team an ideal start with 5 points from her serve. The teams traded points for a while but as the set wore on Panthers began to close the gap. The first pass was given Ben the opportunity to set up the attacks, but the team failed to make to most of it not putting Panthers under pressure. In the end Panthers took the set 25 – 22.
Alice came on the set in the second set with Gary at opposite. This time Panthers got off to a good start as the first pass was not getting to the setter. Hermitage rallied a bit in the middle of the set but Panthers then began to find holes in the Hermitage defence as they sat back too deep leaving gaps behind the block. Panthers ran out winners 25 – 14.
In the third set Hermitage never really got going. Hermitage were unable to put the Panthers defence under any pressure and were caught numerous times defending too deep.
Unfortunately, Panthers continued to exploit the defensive frailties of the Hermitage defence and ran out strong winners of the set 25 – 9 to confirm a 3 – 0 victory.
